Antivirus Recommendations:

With the ever emerging risk of Identity theft, data loss, file corruption, and overall havoc that is often caused by viruses and malware in an infected computer it is essential to always ensure that you have adequate Antivirus and Malware protection that is suitable for your computing needs! It make very little difference these days what your surfing habit are, if you are on the World Wide Web, you are always at risk for infection from these threats!

To help protect yourself from these threats, we have outlined what we feel are three of the best solutions to protect your surfing habits, and help ensure a safe web experience! Not every infection can be stopped, but these will ensure that you have the protection you need when an attempt is made!
   Quick Online Virus Scan....

Eset is my personal favotite and the solution I use myself on all my machines! The footprint is low meaning you will never know it is running in the background, as it uses very few system resources. The other thing I love about this software is the fact that is does not bug you unless you want it to: you can choose interactive mode which alerts you to incoming or outgoing transmissions, or just leave it be and it will only bother you if there is a problem. This is highly recommended, and is more than sufficient when paired with Windows Firewall technology!

McAfee is one of the better solutions, it is pretty simple to install and does not hog resources as much as some of the all in one suites. McAfee also is very easy to customize, even for the novice there are advanced settings that can easily be tweaked! If you have Comcast internet service, the complete suite is free when you go to their website and sign in! Macafee also has a solution to remove most Malware, it is called "Stinger", and is a popular solution to remove annoying pop-up causing Malware!

Avast is a free solution that has a simple interface and better than average alerts for a free solution. It is great for the novice and easy to configure, however i suggest you venture into the advanced settings to turn off some of the settings, such as the software download warning as it sometimes stops legitimate installs, and the sounds, as they can get annoying after a while! It updates daily and ofetn, and you can adjust when it does update to save resources! all you need to do is register for a one year subscrition, and its free!

Microsoft Security Essentials 2 uses both definition-file and real-time defenses against viruses and spyware, and also offers rootkit protection. Along with the quick scan and the full scan, there's a Custom scan option that lets users select specific folders or drives to scan. It doesn't allow for customizing the type of scan used. For example, you're not going to be able to choose to scan only for rootkits or heuristics, as you can with other security programs. However, you can set USB keys and other external devices to automatically get scanned. The program installs a context-menu option for on-the-fly scanning in Windows Explorer, too.
